Yesterday I spoke about the true meaning of Christmas, that it is to celebrate His coming to the earth to save us from our sins and be part of God’s family. I also shared that He is coming back and how we need to prepare for His return.
As believers, one of the ways to prepare for His return is to prepare our hearts for his return. We do that by taking up our cross and dying to ourselves daily. We aim to bear Jesus’ image in how we think, speak, and act every day.
If you’re not a believer but are wondering how you can become a follower of Jesus, you repent of your sins and ask Him to be the Lord and Savior of your life. In doing that, you’ve begun the process of preparing the way for Him to move on your behalf.
Today, I want to discuss another way to prepare the way for His return.
That is in sharing the gospel with others. We need to prepare the hearts of others to receive the love and forgiveness of sins that Jesus wants to lavish on them. 2 Peter 3:3-9 relays how many are mockingly asking, “When is He coming back?” They don’t think that He is coming back because it would seem to them that He is taking His time…if He ever will come back as they assume.
However, verse 9 states,
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
It is His grace, mercy, and patience that He hasn’t returned yet in order that others can come to repentance and receive His forgiveness for their sins. Our unbelieving friends, family, and those we come in contact with need Jesus. It is our responsibility to tell them the good news of Christ and encourage them to repent from their sins.
Who will you prepare the way for? Who is God leading you to share the good news of Christ to?
