Worship is the expression of our love and faith in God. As a result, worship is a lifestyle because in everything we do we are to do it as unto the Lord as it states in Colossians 3:23-24
23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Today, I want to share some ways we can worship the Lord. This isn’t an exhaustive list but will give you some biblical ideas of how our expressions of faith and love for God can look. There are also many scripture passages that talk about the items listed below but I listed a few for your reference.
Ways to Worship the Lord
- Raise our hand (Psalm 134:2; 1 Timothy 2:8; Psalm 134:2)
- Sing (Psalm 149:1; Psalm 96:1-2; James 5:13; Ephesians 5:19, Psalm 100:1-2)
- Play instruments (Psalm 150:1-6; Psalm 149:3)
- Dance (Psalm 150:1-6; Psalm 149:3; Psalm 30:11)
- Bow before Him (Nehemiah 8:6; Psalm 95:6; Philippians 2:10)
- Speak forth His glory (1 Chronicles 16:24; Luke 4:18, Psalm 96:3)
- Clap our hands (Psalm 47:1)
- Shout aloud (Psalm 47:1; Psalm 66:1)
- Share with others (the good news and our material possessions) (Psalm 96:3; Luke 4:18; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 3:15; Luke 12:33; 1 Timothy 6:18; 1 John 3:17)
- Love others (John 13:34; Romans 13:8; Ephesians 4:32)
- And many more…
When we do these physical expressions we are showing God that we are honoring Him. Make no mistake, I am not talking about doing these things just to do them. Not for perfunctory sake. We are doing these because our hearts are overflowing with gratitude and love for the Lord.
